PDF A turning point for EuroPCR

The mission of the European Association for Percutaneous Cardiovascular Interventions is "to reduce the burden of cardiovasculardisease in Europe". Education is a vital part of the mission.
Launched for the first time in 2009, this EAPCI initiative resulted in the submission of 564 abstracts, with 255 of these being integrated into the scientific programme of EuroPCR as oral presentations.
An outstanding response for the first year – with submissions from 95 countries, the abstracts were a successful step in the ongoing evolution of the Course, and the fruit of a collaboration between the EAPCI, EuroIntervention and EuroPCR.
Peer-reviewed by a panel comprising both the EAPCI and the Editorial Board of EuroIntervention, the abstracts were of high scientific quality and covered an extremely broad subject range–reflecting the fact that EuroPCR draws from the entire cardiovascular community.
The 223 abstracts contained in the pages that follow will provide you with an overview of the abstract sessions scheduled over the four days of the Course. They are witness to the growth of EuroPCR, the spirit of openness, and the objective of a more inclusive Course programme.
We invite you not only to keep this first edition of the EuroIntervention Supplement Abstract Book as a reference – but toactively participate in the sessions, with topics including bifurcation lesions, transcatheter aortic valve implantation, diabetes, new devices, critical limb ischemia, the latest polymer technology and much more.
We aim to increase the presence of abstracts in the scientific programme of EuroPCR in 2010, and hope to receive an ever increasing response to what is one of the fundamentals of the education – and information process our profession is so closely tied to.
Our sincere thanks to all of those who participated in the grading of the abstracts, and worked to tight deadlines to ensure this publication made it to print!
